US–CEE Connection Weekend is an annual conference co-organized by the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The event brings together distinguished representatives of law, business, academia, public administration, the legal profession, civil society, and research institutions, all focused on identifying common ground in the differing approaches of the United States and the European Union to the key challenges of the modern world and their impact on transatlantic relations.
Following the theme Transatlantic Challenges in Law, Business & Policy, conference participants will engage in discussions on the most pressing issues related to capital markets regulation, trade, sustainable development, public advocacy, and digital transformation. Rapid geopolitical developments have once again brought these matters to the forefront, and evolving regulatory frameworks may significantly shape the future of relations between the United States and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The conference program will feature a variety of formats — from expert keynote addresses and panel discussions to interactive Q&A sessions. A key element of the event will be networking opportunities designed to provide experts and decision-makers with a platform to establish international and interdisciplinary connections in a welcoming and intimate setting.
At this stage, the following distinguished experts from the United States have confirmed their in-person participation:
– The Honorable Mark T. Uyeda, Commissioner, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC);
– The Honorable Phyllis C. Borzi, Former Assistant Secretary for Employee Benefits Security, U.S. Department of Labor;
– Jurand Drop, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance;
– Prof. Jim Mazurkiewicz, Regents Fellow & Leadership Program Director, Texas A&M University;
– J.C. Boggs, King & Spalding's Government Advocacy and Public Policy Group.
We expect to confirm the participation of additional distinguished experts from the United States in the coming weeks.
The event will be held entirely in person. Participation is free of charge and requires prior registration. Seating is limited.
